FASTOS Development Team
First Iranian UCI Mountain Bike Team
With the publication on the UCI website of all registrated UCI Mountainbike teams, one of the newcomers was FASTOS development team from Iran.
At the end of last season, Cycling Federation of Iran, their headcoach mountainbike Harry Hendriks (the Netherlands) and National Olympic Committee had an evaluation of the races. Together they came with an idea to create an International mountainbike team to improve the level of mountainbike in Iran.
The Team is part of a plan, which also includes talent identification, workshops for women on mountainbike, bike school weeks in several states of Iran and coach education.
Head coach Harry Hendriks is the driving force behind the plan: "The whole plan is started to improve mountainbike in Iran. In FASTOS, we found the perfect partner for the plan. Fastos is active in Iran as distributor for brands like KTM, TRINX, Continental, Tacx, DTswiss and several more. Fastos provides the team with world class equipment. For many riders in Iran it's a big step forward using bikes provided by Fastos." The development team will be divided in Fastos-KTM and TRINX bikes.
Cycling Federation of Iran is supporting the plan, and next to the team they also will support the National team, in order to have the best facilities and results in 2015.
"Its great to get this support from Fastos for mountainbike in Iran. We really can make big steps with young talented riders. For a coach the whole plan is like a dream, specially when you understand the situation in Iran. Its hard work, sometimes with obstacles, only never give up. Smile and go fast, is the slogan I always use for my riders, and also used by me!" according to Coach Harry Hendriks.
